Greet The New Year

"We do not know what the year shall be;

But, Lord, the darkness is light to thee.

Our way is open, thou knowest all,

Nor can any evil our hearts enthrall,

Since thou art ruling! O, give to us

The faith that shall ever trust thee thus;

And then, come sorrow, or want, or shame,

Forward we go as in thy great name."

THIS said of some-a noble few-

"They builded better than they knew,"

While many have the care and cost,

To find at last their labor lost.

God grant that we such skill attain,

That what we build be not in vain.
