Visit Of The Angels
"And suddenly, there was with the angels a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying, Glory be to God in the highest! and on earth peace, good will toward men." Luke 2:13
On the plains of Palestine,
Shepherds by night,
Saw celestial glories shine,
O, wondrous sight!
A multitude of the heavenly host
And heavenly light.
Those shepherds slept
not at their post
That joyful night.
Angels praising God
and singing,
"Peace on earth "
Joyful news to shepherds bringing,
Of Jesus' birth.
Heaven's lofty arches rang
With joyful lays;
Shepherds rejoiced,
and angels sang
Songs of praise.
At his feet archangels bow,
Jesus lives.
Arrayed in priestly vestments now.
Still he forgives.
Soon will his priestly office end:
He'll wear a crown.
Haste, secure him for a friend;
Escape his frown.
