Good Bye To The Old Year

WE speak it very tenderly,

With half a sob and half a sigh-

`Old Year, good-bye! Old Year, good-bye!'

For what it brought and what it takes,

We love it, and for loved ones' sakes;

Prized for its hour of happiness,

Nor for its sacred sorrows less;

For all it gave through toil and strife

Of new significance to life.

Accept our thanks, Old Year, for these,

And for all precious memories

Of love, of grief, of joy, or pain,

Whose ministry was not in vain!"
