MERRY time is the New Year's time,

When the snow lies white and still

Over the meadows and valleys fair,

And over the sloping hills;

When the sound of sleigh-bells fills the air,—

A cheering sound to hear,—

And voices of friends with greeting kind,

To welcome the glad New Year.

A precious time is the New Year's time,

As we count our treasures o'er,—

Blessings our Father in mercy sends

From his exhaustless store;

Blessings and comforts we cannot count,

He sendeth us far and near;

Then gratefully, children, thank the Lord,

As you welcome the glad New Year.
